It’s always a long summer of fun in Melbourne. Things start heating up in October, build to a crescendo during the festive period and continue on through the scorching early months of the New Year. There is barely a dull moment until the city finally takes a collective breath after the Easter holidays. No one experiences all this excitement quite like the event venues spread throughout Melbourne, and at Harbour Kitchen, it is a favourite time of ours. great buzz around the Docklands area over the past few months. It’s always been a lively area, but the ongoing development of the precinct, the ever-improving transportation network (more trams and the free zone extending to Docklands) and of course, the sheer volume of events, festivals and attractions that our city continues to offer has made this season the best yet. More than most event venues, Harbour Kitchen has been in the thick of the action throughout and we’ve been fortunate enough to host some very special events of our own. From weddings to christenings, end of year functions, the city’s NYE fireworks extravaganza, Brazilian Samba parties and quiz nights, we’ve seen the full spectrum of events this summer.
And the good news is that there is still plenty of fun on the horizon. Valentines Day is almost upon us and, as far as event venues go, there is no better place to spend a romantic evening than on the Docklands waterfront with fine wine, delicious food and a special someone. The Chinese New Year kicks off in Melbourne next week, lasts for 16 days and is set to be bigger than ever this year. It’s a great opportunity to celebrate the cultural diversity of Melbourne, particularly the strong and vibrant Chinese community. Then of course, it’s Easter, bringing more reasons to celebrate and more public holidays to do so on.
